Surprisingly for a large international firm with a significant base in London, this firm only had two real estate partners. With one of the partners only a few years away from retirement, there was a real need to increase the depth of expertise within the group. Unusually, the key factor was not the size of any potential following, but finding someone with the same commitment to undertaking quality work for a high end client base who would fit into a small team.
With knowledge of the real estate market being one of the company’s key strengths, we immediately knew of several possible targets. However, to ensure that we did not miss out on any suitable individuals, we extensively mapped the market and commenced approaches to the agreed shortlist.
Several targets met the client, but having previously got to know one individual through working opposite them on a deal, this individual was always a clear front runner. The process took a considerable period of time with delays arising for a variety of reasons. However, nine months after being approached, the target agreed to join our client!
