The growth of the corporate team was seen as integral to the firm’s strategic plan – it intended to double the size of the corporate team over the next couple of years, and to substantially increase the team’s contribution to the firm’s turnover. Core to this plan was the recruitment of a star junior partner.

Thus, we were instructed to search for a dynamic senior associate to build upon the firm’s own reputation and to develop the clients and contacts of the other departments of the firm. It was integral that the successful candidate was not a shrinking violet as the partners wanted him/her to be marketing to clients, new and existing, within a very short space of time.

Having produced an in-depth research document profiling star senior associates from leading firms, a focused shortlist was agreed on. The favoured candidate was evident from the start and, after several meetings, both parties felt he was the right individual to drive the expansion and growth of Wedlake Bell’s corporate department.
