Private Practice

Our client, a US firm which is ranked in the topmost echelon of law firms with regard to its competition practice, is looking to build off this renowned practice area and establish a Competition Litigation practice. Our client plans on doubling its London office size over the next four years by strengthening and growing its core areas.
The firm’s lawyers in both Brussels and London win instructions on complex multi-jurisdictional (and multi-continental) merger clearances, innovative competition work for leading multinationals and responsibility for competition work at UK, EU and other national levels.
In addition, our client’s Competition lawyers work closely with its IP and Pharmaceutical lawyers in London, enabling it to provide an integrated IP/competition service, which is particularly useful in the context of complex patent and trade mark litigation, and parallel import issues.
With the recent growth of class action firms in London, and the OFT announcing that it backs private action to promote a greater culture of compliance with competition law, our client feels that establishing its own Competition Litigation practice is an appropriate step. Additionally, since the firm has defended Corporates in class action suits in the US, it would make sense for the firm to be able to offer the same service in its London and Brussels offices.
Based on all of this, we are searching for an intelligent Competition Litigation partner from either a US or UK firm to join our client’s London office. The ideal candidate will be a Litigation partner with a strong bias towards Competition, with excellent technical and client-facing skills, and the drive to build a practice.
