The firm’s construction group had had a spectacularly successful few years, with not only turnover growing significantly but its profitability was the highest in the firm. The continued success meant that the group’s partners were being stretched too far in trying to cope with managing a sizeable team, clients’ needs, international work and undertaking business development activities.
Thus, the firm made the decision to make a rare commitment to taking on a lateral hire at partner level into the London office.
There were clearly going to be very few individuals with the required experience, skills, personality and gravitas able to move into the partnership at our client and therefore we decided to research partners worldwide, particularly in Asia and the Middle East. Having presented the research, the client asked us to approach only three of the targets, one in the Middle East and two in London. Discussions commenced with all three and there was soon a clear front runner. The process went extremely smoothly and quickly reached a successful conclusion.
