Mishcon de Reya has expanded its insolvency capability with the hire of Beachcroft partner Mike Stubbs.
Stubbs, who has joined the firm as a partner, specialises in all areas of insolvency, reconstruction and business recovery work. He spent around five years as a partner at Beachcroft, where he advised clients including Vantis, Ernst & Young and Royal Bank of Scotland.
The hire takes Mishcons’ insolvency practice to around 40 fee earners dealing with specialist areas such as asset recovery and injunctions as well as more traditional insolvency work.
Stubbs told Legal Week: "It was the right time for a move. Beachcroft is a lovely firm but I am very much a corporate animal who patrols all parts of the recovery market and at the moment that is not where Beachcroft is positioned."
Danny Davis, Mishcons’ head of insolvency, added: "The market dictated the hire. We are hearing about a downturn but it does not seem to have started. Mishcons is growing a stronger insolvency and restructuring practice.
"We are recruiting aggressively and have being doing so for some time, there will be more appointments made in the coming months."
